Rope Holders
To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ,
For those of you who have never received a letter from us let me introduce ourselves. We are the Lee family from Fort Worth. My name is Michael and my wife’s name is Megan. We have three children; Jake who is eleven, Tess who is seven and Joy who is three. We have been called as a family into foreign missionary service and are currently in the process with the International Mission Board to become missionaries in Queretaro, Qureretaro, Mexico. We are scheduled to be appointed in Houston Texas on November 11th of this year, we leave for training January 20, 2009 and depart for a year of language training in Costa Rica mid April of 09.
I want to take this opportunity to share with you our calling to the mission field. In the Spring of 2000, God began to point me to missions. I was on a mission trip to Mexico a few weeks later when God confirmed my calling to the mission field. When I returned home from that trip, needless to say, I was excited. My wife did not share my sentiments. She felt like she had her hands full with what was on her plate at that time and shut out the idea of serving as a missionary.
A few years went by and much to her dismay, the call upon my heart had not quieted. As all of you know we have a God who is faithful to bring about His will. With that said, God convicted Megan to begin praying for a softening of her heart towards missions. “Lord”, she would reluctantly pray, “if missions are what you have for us, soften my heart and make me obedient to your call.” I bet you can guess what happened next. He answered her prayer. Within a few months we sold our house and moved to Fort Worth so I could attend seminary. Here we are now, two years later, ready to depart from the U.S. so that we might proclaim His Name to people who do not know Him.
I want to share a story about William Carey, the father of the modern mission movement, with you. Carey was visiting with Andrew Fuller in regards to being a missionary to India when Fuller said in reference to the lost souls in need of hearing the Gospel, "There is a gold mine in India; but it seems as deep as the centre of the earth; who will venture to explore it?"…"I will go down" responded Carey. He then stated "but remember that you must hold the rope", meaning that he needed support if he were to go.
This is the part where you all are so important. We want you to be our rope holders here in the States. We want this to be your mission as well as our mission. We want you to take ownership of this endeavor with us, by being the ones standing at the top of the mine supporting our family with prayer. This is why we humbly ask you all to pray for us and for this work in Mexico. Dr. David Jeremiah stated, “(Missions) is not going to happen through technology or our intellectual abilities, but only through prayer. When we pray, God works.” May we always remember this.
We will be sending updated information to all of you as we can. We also invite you to come and visit us through your church or as individuals and possibly begin a lifelong love for missions.

Megan's Sisters and Brother
As most of you already know, Megan lost her father to cancer a week ago. So we flew to Washington state so that she could go to the memorial and reconnect with family. While there we walked through the first 10 years of her life, retracing areas where she lived and visited, talking about various experiences that she had, both good and bad, while growing up.
Though this was certainly a sad trip, it was also a trip of great blessings. Below are several pictures that I took of Megan's first meeting with her siblings. What an honor it was to meet them. The first picture is of Megan and her brother Michael and her sister Annie. The second is of her sister Breanne.

Reunion
Join us in our celebration, our rejoicing in the reuniting of Megan with her half sister Breanne after 24 years!
Unfortunatley the camera that we brought does not have sound, so only the video was recorded, but hey...that is O.K. Megan is no less thrilled! She did say that both agreed that it was a little anti-climatic since they have been talking on the phone for a while and also because they have felt like they have known one another forever! :) But never the less what a great night amid a time of great sorrow.

Birthday!
We had a single birthday party for all three kids this past Sunday since their birthdays are relatively close to each. It turned out to be really nice. Friends (and family) of all three kids showed up to with them a happy birthday and to send them off to the mission field!
